Nous allons au spectacle du Tertulia. Rachel va y danser!
Qu'est-ce que c'est que le Tertulia? Lisez ici:
What is Tertulia? And who is Maxine?
In the fall of 2001, the Tertulia Club was founded as a student organization, with the purpose of organizing and producing the Maxine Celeste Chansky Spring Tertulia.
The Spring Tertulia was conceived as a celebration of the arts in memory of Maxine Celeste Chansky, a student of NSHS and in honor of her graduating class of 1999.
The event was sponsored by the Maxine Chansky Scholarship Fund, a gift from Maxine's family, in conjunction with the Newton South Enrichment Program.
To honor Maxine's joyous spirit, delight in the arts and love of cultural diversity, this occasion, taking place at NSHS and open to the entire student body, was intended to involve a performance in dance, music, drama, poetry and/or art.
In the fall of 1999 students and teachers at NSHS began to plan the first Tertulia, which took place May 26, 2000. Since Maxine loved dance it was thought fitting that a Dance Troupe be the centerpiece of this day. Ramón de los Reyes of the Spanish Dance Theater was invited to perform Flamenco. To really celebrate Maxine's energy and spirit student performances were included.
The Tertulia has continued to take place one day each spring at NSHS, and since its inception, has increasingly evolved as a showcase for the many talents of the Newton South community.
Bonnes vacances à tous et à toutes! Au 22 avril... Mme DeRobert
